Pigmentation Treatments
Targeted Support for Uneven Skin Tone
Pigmentation can show up in different ways, from sun spots and post-acne marks to uneven patches, melasma-style discolouration or areas of skin that look darker than the surrounding complexion. Because pigmentation can have different causes, the best approach is usually a carefully tailored treatment plan rather than a single, one-size-fits-all treatment.
At Janine Smith Aesthetics, pigmentation treatments are designed to support a more even, brighter and healthier-looking complexion. Janine will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend suitable treatment options based on your skin type, pigmentation pattern, sensitivity, lifestyle and goals.
Depending on your skin, your plan may include treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, microdermabrasion, LED Light Therapy, skin boosters or professional skincare advice. Daily SPF and the right homecare routine are also important, as pigmentation can become more noticeable or return if the skin is not properly protected.

Creating the Right Pigmentation Treatment Plan
Pigmentation is not always straightforward. Some marks may be caused by sun exposure, while others may appear after breakouts, irritation, hormonal changes or inflammation. This is why Janine will take time to understand your skin before recommending treatment.
Your appointment may include a discussion about when the pigmentation appeared, whether it has changed, your current skincare routine, sun exposure, previous treatments and any sensitivities. This helps Janine choose an approach that is suitable for your skin, rather than using treatments that may be too strong or increase irritation.
For some clients, a bespoke chemical peel may be recommended to help refresh the skin and improve the look of uneven tone. Others may benefit from microneedling, particularly where pigmentation is linked with post-acne texture or marks. Microdermabrasion or LED Light Therapy may also be included where appropriate, depending on your skin’s needs.
Pigmentation treatments often work best gradually. A course of treatments may be recommended, along with consistent homecare and daily SPF to help protect the skin and maintain results. Janine will guide you through what to expect, how to care for your skin afterwards and how often treatment may be needed.
If pigmentation is new, changing quickly, unusual in appearance or linked to a mole or patch of skin that has altered, Janine may recommend that you seek medical advice from your GP or a dermatologist before starting treatment.
